The impala is a stunning and gracious antelope that is of medium size and light build. The coat of a normal impala is shinny and red brown in colour on the back with a white belly, the Black Impala is predominantly black all round. Sides and shoulders are a slightly lighter shade of black. Males carrying a set of horn and show territorial behaviour. The herds of between 15-80 are active throughout the day into the evenings. The males rut and mate in March to May and ewes have a gestation period of 185-200days with Lambing starting from November and ending in January. They are very agile and can jump in excesses of 10meters when chased or threated
